A Hearts fan has reportedly been ejected from today’s Edinburgh derby after an alleged racist incident.

Sky Sports are reporting that the alleged incident occurred in the aftermath of Hibs‘ opening goal and the supporter was arrested as well as being removed from the stadium.

The Hibees took the lead through Kye Rowles’ own goal on nine minutes.

There was a long delay as the linesman ruled Rocky Bushiri was offside and obstructing Craig Gordon but VAR asked referee Nick Walsh to check it and the goal was eventually given.

The abuse was allegedly aimed towards the away bench and is said to have come after that opening goal was eventually confirmed by Walsh.

Hearts statement on alleged racism

A statement provided by the Tynecastle club to Sky Sports said: “The club can confirm a supporter has been ejected from the stadium and arrested in relation to an alleged incident of racism.

“The club condemns racism and any abusive behaviour. It will not comment further on an active police matter.”

Hearts equalised just before half-time when Lawrence Shankland’s header was diverted past Jordan Smith by a hapless Bushiri.
