Hearts fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that midfield lynchpin Peter Haring has extended his Tynecastle contract until 2022 – and the Jambos fans are absolutely delighted the Austrian is sticking around.

Haring has become a big favourite with the Hearts fans and talks have been ongoing for a while over a new deal, with the Tynecastle side confirming on Twitter earlier today that they had agreed a two-year extension.

The 25-year-old originally started out as a central defender for the Jambos but was moved forward into a midfield role and has been a revelation for Craig Levein’s side since.

Haring has made 36 appearances so far this season, scoring seven times, but looks set to sit out the weekend clash with Kilmarnock as he recovers from a groin injury.

With the Scottish Cup rapidly approaching, Levein will need to make sure he avoids any unnecessary risks with his players’ fitness before the huge Hampden showdown with Celtic at the end of the month.

Fans on Twitter were blown away by the confirmation of Haring’s new deal – with one calling it a β€œgreat start to the bank holiday weekend.”
