Hearts were tested at the weekend against a strong Burnley side, losing a friendly 4-1.
The Jambos have been gearing up for the shortened 2020/21 campaign with a serious of friendly matches. They recently played Premier League outfit Sheffield United and played another in Burnley on Saturday.
A strong Clarets teams was fielded, the likes of James Tarkowski and Jay Rodriguez starting for Sean Dyche’s team. Robbie Neilson’s side were handed a tough task, Rodriguez opening the scoring from the penalty spot.
Teenagers Max Thompson and Lewis Richardson got Burnley goals following this before Craig Wighton got one before the break. A classy finish from Johann Berg Gudmundsson finished the scoring and left the game at 4-1.
Whilst not a positive result for Neilson and his side, the chance to play against two Premier League teams will stand Hearts in good stead for the Championship campaign. They go into the second tier as favourites for the title.
Hearts’ competitive campaign kicks off in four weeks time at home to Inverness in League Cup action.
