According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Ryan Edwards is set to leave Hearts for Burton Albion.
The Australian was farmed out to St Mirren on loan last term after signing for the Jambos in the same summer. He returned in January, failing to make an impact until the latter stages of the season.

He made his debut in an Edinburgh Derby draw against Hibs in late April. His rise from zero to hero almost had a perfect ending. Edwards managed to earn himself a place in the starting XI for Hearts’ Scottish Cup final clash against Celtic.
Edwards scored the opener but the Jambos eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat. Now it looks as though the midfielder is heading south for a chance to earn more regular minutes.
Edwards reportedly moving to Burton Albion is strange
It looked as though this season was the term Edwards would kick on at Tynecastle. He impressed in his five Gorgie appearances with great energy, tackling and desire to go forward.

Now after such a promising end to the season he is set to leave? After scoring in the Scottish Cup final? Something doesn’t add up.
Midfield is already a problem issue for Craig Levein. He’ll be without Peter Haring for an unknown amount of time and has already lost Arnaud Djoum. The Hearts boss can’t afford to lose another midfielder.
Overall Edwards’ spell in maroon hasn’t been great all things considered, but the Australian deserves the chance to prove himself. Edwards showed towards the end of last season he can be a good player.

Alas, a move to Burton Albion is decent for the Hearts battler. He’ll get regular minutes in League One and it may put him on a platform for a bigger move.
From a Hearts perspective, at this point in time, a transfer seems strange.
