Hearts are set to launch an ambitious move to bring Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson to Tynecastle as Craig Levein’s replacement – according to a report.
Football Insider claim the Tynecastle hierarchy have identified the Well boss as the man they want to replace Levein after his sacking yesterday.
The report claims Hearts will be on the hook for £120,000 in compensation to lure Robinson away from Fir Park but the Jambos board are prepared to cough up to get their man.
Robinson’s side have regularly punched above their weight in recent seasons and he would make a good fit at Tynecastle as Hearts try to turn their season around.
With assistant manager Austin MacPhee in interim charge, Hearts may have to wait until after this weekend’s League Cup semi-final before taking further steps to appoint Robinson and it seems incredibly unlikely a deal will be done before Hampden.
The Steelmen sit third in the league so far this season with 19 points from 11 games and Robinson’s stock only continues to grow as he impresses in Lanarkshire.
With a host of talented young players at Hearts, the work Robinson has done to develop the likes of Jake Hastie, David Turnbull and others certainly won’t have gone unnoticed at Tynecastle.
