Hearts could be set to bring a second player to Tynecastle from Everton after they reportedly enquired about the availability of 21-year-old striker Ellis Simms.
According to the Edinburgh Evening News, the Jambos are looking at the Everton youngster to replace Armand Gnanduillet following the Frenchman’s move to Le Mans.
Simms made his first-team debut for the Toffees last month and is a regular part of their under-23 squad.
The striker spent time on loan with Blackpool last season, scoring 10 times in 24 appearances for the Seasiders having joined Everton’s Academy in 2020.
Prior to moving to Finch Farm, Simms had spells as part of the Academy set-ups at Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City.
Simms featured alongside Scotland international Nathan Patterson on Monday night as Everton’s under-23s won 1-0 against Tottenham.
If Simms does move to Tynecastle, he’ll have a familiar face in Beni Baningime, having played alongside him for a year at Everton.
Liam Boyce is the only recognised striker available to Jambos boss Robbie Neilson – with Ben Woodburn filling in there – and the Tynecastle side need to bolster their options ahead of the transfer window closing next week.
