Hearts have the opportunity to breathe new life into their miserable season when they face Petrocub in the Conference League tonight.
Neil Critchley’s side face the Moldovan champions at Tynecastle in the final game of the league phase, knowing a result can take them through to the knockout stages.
A point could be enough but they will be targeting all three for what would be their third victory from six games.
Hearts could bank a further £1.5million if they beat Petrocub to progress in the Conference League this evening.
That could mean a total of over £4m to date after Hearts already guaranteed themselves a certain amount through participation fees and performance-related bonuses.
Of course, there is far from any guarantee give the Jambos’ form this season.
They sit bottom of the table after the 1-0 defeat to ten-man Kilmarnock, arguably their worst of a string of horrendous performances and results.
Club captain Craig Gordon admits it’s understandable Hearts have their doubters heading into the the clash.
He has challenged the team to prove they can come out of their sticky situation.
Lawrence Shankland is back from suspension but Hearts were possibly looking at being without seven first-team members for this one.
And Critchley has now named his team.
