Team news has arrived from Tynecastle as Hearts face Sunderland in a pre-season friendly this afternoon.

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson has rotated his squad off the back of two Premier Sports Cup group stage matches. Ross Stewart replaces former Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon – the Hearts captain not named in the home squad – while the away side have former Ross County striker Ross Stewart up front.

Sunderland are still in the early stages of their pre-season prior to their English League One season, so Hearts have a few weeks fitness and preparation over their visitors. They are managed by former Hearts player Lee Johnson, who is aiming to get the Stadium of Light club back into the Championship.

Neilson’s side are building up for the start of the cinch Premiership season against Celtic later this month. Two opening victories against Peterhead and Cove Rangers have provided competitive challenges, but Sunderland present a step up in quality.

Here are both squads for this afternoon’s match, with changes bound to be aplenty.
