Hibs manager Jack Ross has opened up on Nathan Wood’s debut for the Easter Road side in the 3-0 defeat by Dundee United last weekend and admits it is “difficult to say” whether he can be happy with the England youth international’s performance.

Wood came into the side to replace the suspended Ryan Porteous but it was a day to forget at Hibs put in their worst performance of the season to lose some ground on the sides at the top of the table.

While Ross was finding it hard to sum up the defender’s performance, he said there were positives in his play but reiterated that the whole side needed to do better after the comprehensive loss.

“I thought Nathan did okay,” Ross said after the 3-0 defeat.

“It’s difficult at this moment to say that any of us can be satisfied with what we produced out on the pitch because of the performance and the result but I think there were aspects of his play where he will feel he contributed well.

“But equally, he was part of a team that conceded three goals and collectively, we need to be better than that.”
