Kevin Nisbet is in talks with Hibs over signing a new contract with the Scottish Premiership club, amid false rumours of a move to Celtic (DR).

The Scotland international was first linked to Celtic earlier this summer but rumours wrongly resurfaced at the weekend prior to Hibs’ 2-2 draw with Dundee. It was reported that Celtic would offer cash plus striker Leigh Griffiths for Nisbet, but Hibs head coach Jack Ross says the rumours are ‘nonsense.’

Hibs are discussing new terms with one of their top assets as interest and speculation persists in the forward. The striker has a deal signed until 2024 but Hibs want to uplift his wages. Martin Boyle extended his stay at the club earlier this month.

Ross is keen to make Nisbet the next player to sign long-term at Easter Road. Nisbet signed for Hibs last summer in a six-figure deal from Dunfermline Athletic. He has scored 20 goals with 10 assists in 51 appearances for the Edinburgh club. It earned Nisbet a spot in Scotland’s Euro 2020 squad and he is in the September squad too.

Birmingham City bids unsettled Nisbet earlier this year but Hibs were able to turn them down and convince the forward to stay, despite handing in a transfer request. He has returned with top form and could pen an extended Easter Road contract to end speculation surrounding moves to the likes of Celtic.
