Hibs turned a corner with a battling draw against Aberdeen and then a comfortable victory over Motherwell.
But they are back on the foot of the Premiership after an encouraging display at Celtic Park ultimately proved fruitless and they ended up with a 3-0 defeat.
Manager David Gray remains adamant that what the players showed with that performance, and others, means they can get out of the mess they find themselves in.
He needs his team to be more ruthless in front of goal after a litany of missed chances. And he also needs them to shut up shop and stop gifting goals at the other end with basic individual mistakes.
There is definitely talent within the Easter Road group but managers are always keen to strengthen, let alone when trying to stave off the threat of relegation.
So the Hibees are expected to be busy in the transfer market.

Hibs target goalkeeper
Hibs signed two goalkeepers at the start of the season. Josef Bursik was brought in on loan from Club Brugge to be number one with free agent Jordan Smith brought in as back-up after a spell at Stockport, where he was also number two.
But Smith has played in the last three games after a series of errors from Bursik.
The former Stoke man hasn’t convinced all season but Gray stuck by him. However, the 4-1 defeat to Dundee in which the keeper made at least one blunder was the final straw.

Smith didn’t look convincing against Aberdeen but has improved in the other two games.
Not the Old Firm understands the Hibees will be looking to recruit a new man between the sticks for the second part of the season, though.
Striker and number 10 also on Hibs’ radar
Hibs have also been lacking in firepower at the top end of the pitch.
Their top scorer is veteran winger Martin Boyle with five, but three of them came in the League Cup group stage and his last strike was in September.
Centre-forward Mykola Kuharevich is next on four, three of which came in the league.
Fellow striker Dwight Gayle has hit the net once while Elie Youan has also played up there and is yet to score this season.
As a result, Not the Old Firm has learned Hibs are aiming to add a striker in January along with an attacking midfielder/number 10 type.
