Hibs goalkeeper Ofir Marciano will leave Easter Road at the end of this season amid links to the likes of Celtic.

The Israeli goalkeeper has spent five years at Hibs, Neil Lennon signing him in the Championship and Marciano has been in Edinburgh ever since. This week, he was linked with a move to Celtic, the Parkhead club believed to be monitoring his situation.

Marciano is close friends with Celtic player Nir Biton, who initially sold him on the move to Scotland, and the Hibees goalkeeper spoke this week of his ambition to play in the Premier League. While it’s not known where his next move may be, Jack Ross will have big gloves to fill.

The Hibs manager has confirmed that the Israeli has rejected new terms at Easter Road. Ross has tied Joe Newell and Josh Doig down to new long-term deals, but Marciano is opting for pastures new.

Ross County in Dingwall await Hibs this weekend. Facing his former boss and Hibs hero John Hughes, Ross expects a tough task: “John has an enthusiasm and passion about the game that is vital and he is astute in his work, he has good ideas and backs them.

“So I am not been surprised that he has galvanised in that period, we know that first hand from the game at Easter Road a couple of months ago and two of the last three results have made them competitive to retain their place in the league.”
