Hibs new boys have their say on Easter Road moves after trio make Deadline Day transfers

Hibs’ new signings David Mitchell, Dylan Tait and Middlesbrough loanee Nathan Wood have expressed their gratitude after completing moves to Hibs.

Wood was the first to arrive on the final day of the transfer window, the English centre-back signing a season-long loan deal from Middlesbrough. He was followed by Mitchell, the Clyde goalkeeper coming in to provide competition. 19-year-old Raith Rovers attacker Tait was landed before the deadline and heads back to Kirkcaldy on loan.

Head coach Jack Ross’ new centre-back from Middlesbrough said of the move: “I’m buzzing to be here, it’s a big club, and I’m really excited to get going. I was speaking with the manager and from the first five or 10 minutes, I got a good feeling straight away about the plans, the squad, the facilities and the fans.

“My gut told me that this was the right move for me, and I wanted to get it done. It’s something out of my comfort zone, but that’s what excited me about it. I see it as a real challenge.”

Mitchell added on his move: “Absolutely delighted to get this sorted, can’t wait to get going! Thanks for all the welcome messages! A massive thank you to all at Clyde Football Club. Gave me the platform to prove people who doubted me wrong. I’ll forever be grateful.”

Tait, staying on-loan at Raith Rovers until January after agreeing a deal with Hibs until 2025, knows a ‘massive’ jump in quality awaits him at Hibs: “I’m delighted. It’s a massive club and I can’t wait to get going. I’ve been playing for Raith Rovers in League 1 and the Championship, so this is obviously a massive step up for me.

“But I’m over the moon to get here. I want to continue my form over the next few months and keep impressing the manager here, so when I come back in January the manager will give me a chance. I want to kick on and keep improving.”

Hibs pushed into the final hours of the window to try and sign Orland City forward Chris Mueller, but he will arrive in January on a pre-contract. A deal to bring St Mirren’s Jamie McGrath was also in the works but Hibs weren’t able to get it done before the deadline.
