Hibs’ Ofir Marciano has been offered a contract by Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva amid links to Celtic for the 31-year-old (Scottish Sun).
The goalkeeper will be leaving Hibs at the end of the season after five years at Easter Road. He has been linked with switches elsewhere, Celtic one of the clubs thought to be monitoring his progress.
But if Celtic do want him, Marciano’s agent Duda Dahan bringing Nir Bitton to the Hoops back in 2013, they will have to move quick. Hapoel Be’er Sheva have already moved for their man.
It’s reported that talks are already underway between the two parties, a move which would allow Marciano to transfer back to his homeland of Israel. Motherwell faced Be’er Sheva earlier this season in Europa League qualifying.
A decision won’t be made though on Marciano’s future until the end of the season. In the meantime, he is preparing with Israel to face Scotland again, the fourth time the pair have met this season.
He said (Sky Sports): “I’ve played Scotland four times, more than I’ve played against teams in the league this season! But I think the challenge is to find new ideas because of the fact we know each other so well.
“I think we showed in the games we had against Scotland, we’re quite equal. They can beat us, we can beat them, I think we had good results against Scotland in the last games but I’m sure the Scottish team had a big boost from their Euros qualification.”
