Hibs are now making more logical decisions in the transfer market after previously adopting a ‘mind-boggling’ recruitment strategy.
That’s the view of former Hibs midfielder and current BBC Sportsound pundit Michael Stewart who within the space of two weeks, has changed his outlook on the Easter Road club.
Hibs have gone through a tumultuous few seasons with numerous managerial changes and a general lack of stability at a club who should be performing much better than they have been.
The Edinburgh side spent big on players last summer but ultimately, the new investments – Dylan Vente and Elie Youan for example – proved fruitless after finishing a lowly 8th in the Scottish Premiership.

Michael Stewart more ‘positive’ about Hibs
But Stewart thinks Hibs’ business so far this summer, with Malky Mackay at the helm as sporting director, shows that the club may be turning a corner and named three signings who are representative of this.
Stewart was speaking on BBC Sportsound after host Kenny MacIntyre expressed that Hibs – who have lost their opening two league games of the new season – are very unpredictable and that you can’t see what the future lies for them.
Stewart then replied: “Yeah but I feel a lot more positive about Hibs than I did even two weeks ago because you are starting to see decisions being made by football people.
“They are beginning to assemble a team that you can see football people who know what they’re doing making those decisions.
“It’s not to say these things are going to turn around quickly because they’re not, they’re having to really rectify a lot of mistakes that have been made over the last three years.”
Kieron Bowie and Kwon namechecked
Stewart went on: “But Kieron Bowie coming in, you think to yourself on the face of it, ‘sensible decision’. Kwon from Celtic going in, again sensible decision.
“And there’s still a great deal of work to be done there but you can start to see things. (Mykola) Kukharevych obviously coming back from Swansea on loan, he did well at Hibs for the limited period before.
“These are decisions that you can understand the logic behind it, it’s not to say they are all going to pay off but the decisions that were being made before were just mind-boggling, stupidity, and they’ve really suffered for that.
“So looking at them, they are on a much better track than before, even two weeks ago.”
