Hibs expected XI vs Dundee United as David Gray welcomes back Martin Boyle

Hibs are back in Premiership action this weekend and fans are desperate to see their side climb up the table.

David Gray’s men sit 10th in the league and that, for supporters, simply isn’t where they want to be. The Hibees went three games unbeaten in September but it only included one win.

They’ve lost their last two against Rangers and Motherwell so nothing other than three points against Dundee United is only going to pile the pressure on.

The trip to Tannadice will be a tough one with the Arabs losing just one of their last five Premiership fixtures so a point may not be the worst outcome even if it’s not deemed enough by the Hibs faithful.

So who might line up in the Hibs starting XI this weekend? Nectar Triantis is suspended after receiving a second yellow card against Motherwell last time out, while Kieran Bowie is a long-term absentee.

Not The Old Firm’s predicted XI for the Hibees against Dundee United is detailed below.

Predicted formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Josef Bursik

The Englishman on loan from Club Brugge is Hibs’ undisputed No.1 this season and he’ll be looking for just his second clean sheet of the Premiership season.

LB – Jordan Obita

Obita will keep his place at left-back. He has started every league game so far for David Gray.

CB – Warren O’Hora

Hibs have a fairly settled back four with O’Hora assuming defensive responsibilities alongside his regular partner.

CB – Marvin Ekpiteta

And that is Marvin Ekpiteta who was signed from Blackpool in the summer.

RB – Lewis Miller

Miller scored his first goal for Australia during the international break and will undoubtedly be on a high. However, he has been travelling a lot recently so that may influence Gray’s decision over how many minutes he gets.

CM – Joe Newell

The experienced midfielder and Hibs captain should slot into the middle of the park to fill the gap left by the suspended Triantis this weekend.

CM – Kwon Hyeok-kyu

On loan from Celtic, Kwon has been impressive so far this season and is likely to partner Newell in midfield.

CAM – Jordan Campbell

Campbell scored four goals across the Premier Sports Cup group stage but hasn’t netted in the league thus far.

LW – Junior Hoilett

The veteran Canadian winger notched his first Hibs goal against Motherwell and should be rewarded with a start in Dundee.

RW – Martin Boyle

This is a big boost for Gray with Boyle seemingly fit again after surgery on his wrist. Chris Cadden is available if the Aussie isn’t quite ready yet.

ST – Mykola Kukharevych

It’s unlikely Dwight Gayle is given his full debut from the start so Swansea City striker Kukharevych should get the nod again.
