Bidding on Josh Doig has started this summer, with Watford submitting a transfer offer of £2.5 million for the Hibs left-back being tracked by AC Milan and Leeds United (Scottish Sun).
The recently-promoted Premier League side also had a bid for Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson turned down earlier this summer. Doig is wanted by several of England’s top clubs – including Leeds United – after a standout 2020/21 season.
Watford recently brought in experienced left-back Danny Rose ahead of their EPL return but could sign Doig to serve as understudy. Hibs’ sporting director Graeme Mathie told NTOF this week that the Easter Road club were braced for interest in their key assets. Watford are expected to return with another bid.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Leicester City and Leeds United have all been credited with interest in Doig, alongside Italian giants AC Milan and fellow cinch Premiership club Celtic. Jack Ross’ side return to pre-season training this week.
