Hibs signing Jason Naismith has made comments following his Easter Road move that’ll sit well with supporters of the club.

Naismith has arrived in Leith on a season-long loan deal from Peterborough. He is a welcome addition to the right-back department at present, with David Gray sidelined for 12 weeks.

It’ll be the Posh full-back who covers for him and he has started his Hibees career on the right track, saying he knows how ‘big’ a club Hibs are.

He told the Evening Times: “No-one has to tell me how big a club Hibernian are and when I heard about their interest I didn’t have to think twice.

“I’m looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the boys this week and getting to work.”

Naismith will be decent for Hibs

Statements like this don’t mean much in the long-term, but it’s nice for supporters to hear. It seems like Naismith genuinely appreciates the opportunity he has been given.

It’s up to him to prove that is the case out on the pitch now. The right-back is a very good full-back though and should have no problems settling in at Easter Road.

Naismith works hard for the badge he represents and will turn in energetic performances every week. He is very good at the back, with awareness and positioning key components of his game.

He also brings SPFL experience, having played 175 games across spells at St Mirren, Morton, Cowdenbeath and Ross County (Transfermarkt).

If he knows how big a club Hibs are, Naismith will know how high the expectations are for the club. He’ll need to hit the ground running if he is to have success in Edinburgh.
