Airdrieonians manager Ian Murray doesn’t expect in-demand winger Thomas Robert to leave in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Celtic, who have scouted the player on numerous occasions. The likes of Rangers, Dundee United and various English sides have also been credited with an interest in the player.
The reason for the interest is Robert has been in excellent form for the League One side. He has scored four goals and has two assists in 13 appearances so far this season.
Too early to move
However, Murray feels that it is too early for the player to make such a move. He is confident that the player will still be at Airdrie when the January window closes.

“There’s a lot of publicity around Thomas, he’s done really well, but he’s only played about 12 or 13 games or something like that” he said (Daily Record).
Murray doesn’t expect teams to gamble on signing a player that is still really at the start of his footballing career.
“Needs to play more”
“He still needs to play more games, and he’s playing at Airdrie. So I don’t see any reason why Thomas would want to leave at this stage. And I’m not sure that teams will take such a gamble on 13 games” Murray stated.

Perhaps the only way that a move for the player right now would make sense would be if he is loaned back to Airdrieonians for 18 months.
That is perhaps a move which would suit both parties. Only time will tell on that front though.
