Dundee boss James McPake is confident that the club are getting back on track following a difficult start to the season.
McPake has disclosed that it hasn’t been easy for the Championship club as they have had to deal with both Covid-19 and injuries to key players.
Sit in seventh place in the table
As a result of those issues, the Dens Park club currently sit in seventh place in the Championship table, with five points from five games. However, they are still only three points off the last promotion play-off place, with Ayr United currently sitting in fourth place.
However, McPake is hopeful that the good times will return to the club shortly now that players are returning from injury. Firstly, the manager talked about the difficulties he has faced this season, due to Covid-19 rules.
“I think this has been my toughest time as a football player or manager, just with everything that is going on. There are no fans, the whole environment is different” he said.
“They are resilient”
“It is difficult for the players as they are turning up for training and then just going away without showering on their own. But they are resilient and I cannot fault them for the way they have handled everything. It is a complete change of environment” he went on.
McPake then expressed hope that better times could be coming for Dundee as players returned to full fitness.
“My job is to win games of football and having the squad back does help that. It was tough, but we got on with it, and we are in a better place” the Dundee manager concluded.
