Jamie Gullan grateful for Hibs teammate Christian Doidge

Hibs youngster Jamie Gullan has admitted he is happy to have Christian Doidge around to help him grow as a player at Easter Road.

The starlet has given an interview to the club’s official website following a whirlwind few weeks, which has seen him return from a loan spell with Raith Rovers, score his first senior goal for the club against Inverness in the Scottish Cup and make his first start against Aberdeen.

To top that off, Gullan this week received a call-up to the Scotland U21 squad from Scott Gemmill for the first time.

Things have certainly been moving quite quickly for the 20-year-old, who will perhaps need individuals around him to keep his feet on the ground.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Thankfully for Gullan, he appears to have a good role model in fellow Hibees striker Doidge.

He said: “Christian’s been excellent with me. Even on Saturday, ahead of the game against Aberdeen, he took time out to talk to me.

He said ‘try your best and I won’t moan at you. There’s no pressure and I’ll help you as much as I can’.

“He seemed genuinely happy for me when I scored my first goal and it’s good to know people are looking out for me.”

Doidge can help Gullan thrive

Gullan can really develop nicely if he stays under Doidge’s wing.

The 27-year-old Welshman has plenty of experience and has scored goals almost everywhere he’s been so far in his career.

He’s perfectly placed to pass on his pearls of wisdom to Gullan, who’ll be hoping to make a real go of the chance Jack Ross has handed to him.
