Jimmy Thelin identifies Aberdeen ‘really tough’ learning point after mad Hibs draw

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin smiled when asked if he had ever witness anything like the goal-laden draw with Hibs.

The Dons headed into stoppage time leading by two goals to one but conceded an equaliser they could do little about when Nicky Cadden arrowed a free-kick into the top corner.

They then thought they’d won it again as Ester Sokler’s acrobatic scissor kick was poorly dealt with by Hibees stand in keeper Jordan Smith.

But the madness continued and the home side rescued a point with Rocky Bushiri forcing over the line.

Thelin reacts to Aberdeen draw with Hibs

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin thought his side played with too much emotion and that’s what allowed Hibs to score so quickly after conceding at the other end.

The Swede admits that is something for his players to learn from

“There was so much emotion and we lost concentration and made a collective mistake,” he told his post-match presser.

“You have so much emotion when you score a goal to make it 3-2, and it’s an amazing goal, and you celebrate, and then it’s just a kick-off, and then the game is over, and then this happens.

“That’s a really tough learning point from us today – like the game is not over until it’s over, and Hibernian take this opportunity and we get one point.

“The first reaction is disappointment in the dressing room. Football games are tough and there is always a last chance out there.

“We know we have to be compact and close to each other, but we weren’t.

“Football games are tough and there is always the last chance out there somewhere in the last minutes of a game or the last seconds of a game.”

Super-sub Shayden

Substitute Shayden Morris had a massive impact on the game as Thelin continued his knack for making important changes.

The wide man set up their first equaliser and continually got to the byline to cause chaos.

Thelin insists the winger has been performing at a high level for some time now.

He added: “Shayden has been good for a long period now. How he has matured and grown as a player, and his decision making, is good.

“He was good also against St Mirren – he doesn’t get as many balls as we want, but he was really good against St Mirren also – so I think he’s in a good place right now and performs really well.”
