Joe Hilton says playing regular football with Hamilton Academical could be a ‘huge step’ after signing a loan deal from Blackburn Rovers.
The goalkeeper agreed a new two-year deal with Blackburn Rovers last month and links up with Brian Rice’s cinch Championship club for the new season. Hilton spent the second half of last term on loan at Ross County but was unable to remove Ross Laidlaw from his number one position in Dingwall.

Hilton said of his Accies move: “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get going They’re a big club up in Scotland and a massive team in that league, so my aim is to go there and play football, which would be a huge step for me in my career. Hopefully I can get in the team and stay there. It’s all about doing my best and doing well for the team.
“The whole experience of playing first team football every week is massive for any player and you’ve just got to push yourself to do that. Working with different people, being in and around different places, it just builds up my knowledge of the game and then it’s about piecing different things together to see what works.”
