Aberdeen captain Joe Lewis has praised the team’s defence ahead of the Dons’ battle to win third place ahead of Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. Lewis feels that the trio of Andy Considine, Ash Taylor and Tommie Hoban have performed well this season.
Whilst the Dons might have had problems scoring goals, that hasn’t been the case at the other end of the pitch. In 31 games, they have conceded 30 games. Now ahead of this afternoon’s game against Motherwell, Lewis has praised the players that are directly in front of him.
“They enjoy defending”
“The clean sheets have been good. The three in front of me, Andy (Considine), Ash (Taylor) and Tommie (Hoban), they have all been really reliable defenders. They enjoy defending” he said.

“I know what I am going to get from each and every one of them. They listen well and as a group I feel we help each other out verbally to make sure we are all in our correct positions.
Lewis has been impressed with how his defensive teammates have performed. But he feels that the attacking side of the team has to improve.
“Make our jobs easier”
“Defensively we have been good this season, not just the defensive unit. Clean sheets are a team effort, and you do defend from the front. The work rate at the top end of the pitch does make our jobs easier.

“We have been good defensively this season. But we need to start sticking the ball in the back of the net” he concluded.
Aberdeen go into the game against Motherwell needing a win to stay on Hibernian’s coattails. As it stands, they are four points behind the Edinburgh side, having played a game more.
