Ross County boss John Hughes has admitted the club were never going to stand in the way of striker Ross Stewart’s move to Sunderland. The forward moved to the League One side after scoring 28-goals for Ross County.
Hughes admits that the player will be a big miss when it comes to County’s battle to stay in the Premiership.
Club wouldn’t stand in player’s way
However, not only would the club not stand in Stewart’s way, but Hughes has admitted that he has been used to not having Stewart at the club.

The reason for that is that Stewart was injured for most of the time since Hughes became manager. However, Hughes does still admit that the player will be a loss for the rest of the season.
“I’ve never had him”
“He’s a massive loss, but I’ve never had him. I’ve never had him since I come to the club. He’s played 20 minutes for me” he said.

“Everything we’ve done has been without Ross. But, we’re a kind of club, even if you look at Josh Reid, any young kid comes here, we give them a platform to go and play football. If a club like Sunderland of Coventry come in for then I don’t think we’re going to stand in their way. As long as it is a good bit of business for the club.
“It was a good bit of business. So, a little bit disappointed. I’d rather have him here until the end of the season, But, you know the way it materialised I’ve no qualms and I wish him all the best. The whole dressing room wishes him all the best” Hughes concluded.
