Hibs defender Josh Doig has become the latest Easter Road star to put pen to paper on a new contract with Jack Ross’ side, joining Paul Hanlon, Lewis Stevenson, Jake Doyle-Hayes, Christian Doidge and Martin Boyle in signing new deals with the Hibees recently.
The left-back was linked with a move to the Premier League over the summer and looked to be heading for the Easter Road exit when Ross left him out of the side for several games at the start of the season.
However, the Scotland under-21 star remained at Easter Road when the transfer window closed and has now committed his future to Hibs, signing on until 2026.
Speaking to Hibs’ official website, Doig was delighted to get the deal done and stay at Easter Road, with Jack Ross hailing the maturity shown by Doig as speculation over his future went into overdrive.
“I’m absolutely delighted. I absolutely love this club and it was a no brainer to sign,” he said.
“Now getting this done puts a real plan in place for me. I love working with everyone here, I’m so happy here and wouldn’t change it for the world.”
“We’re delighted that Josh has signed a new deal with us,” said Jack Ross. “There was a lot of speculation regarding his future in the summer, but he showed a real maturity to deal with a difficult situation.
“We believe he’s one of the top young players in this country and we want to keep him with us to continue his development.”
