Kai Kennedy has joined Raith Rovers on loan for the rest of the season. The Rangers starlet had spent the first-half of the season on loan at Inverness, but has now moved to Raith for the second-half of the season.
The 18-year-old was a regular for Inverness in his time there, playing 10 times. But now he is at Raith to help in the push for the promotion play-offs.
Could make immediate debut
“I’m absolutely delighted to be here” Kennedy said (RaithTV YouTube). “I’m looking forward to the game at the weekend.” Kennedy could make his debut for Raith against Stirling Albion on Saturday, weather permitting.
Kennedy feels that he needed to play Championship football, as it will stand him in good stead for the future, rather than playing reserve team football.
“I enjoy it, it’s a lot different from playing reserve football, I think this is what I’ve needed. I’m just looking to come here and do more, and hopefully get some more goals and assists” he said.
Impressed with style of football
Kennedy disclosed that one of the reasons he decided to join Raith is that he was impressed with the style of football Raith played when he faced them as an Inverness player. He is hoping to help Raith sustain a challenge for promotion.
“That’s what I liked about coming here, the football they played against us, I thought it suited my style. That’s why I wanted to come here. Hopefully we can get a few wins and hopefully push for promotion.”
Kennedy also signed a new contract that will keep him at Rangers until 2023.
