Most in football already know a lot about Lennon Miller.

The young midfielder, just turned 18, has been of the stories of the last couple of seasons and is already one of Motherwell’s best and most reliable players at such a tender age.

Miller, son of former Scotland striker Lee, has already had plenty of attention with clubs in England, Crystal Palace heavily linked, and Italy said to be taking a look.

Wherever he ends up and whenever it happens, he looks like being one of the next bits of talent off the Scottish football conveyer belt and Not the Old Firm had him on out list of best central midfielders in the Premiership.

Martin Tyler takes notice of Motherwell star Miller

The Scotland under-21s star is now being noticed outside of Scottish footballing circles.

Legendary football commentator Martin Tyler has been in the business for decades, covering the Premier League and Champions League.

It’s fair to say he will have watched a lot of players playing right at the top of the game.

Aged 79, he is still working and has now taken a shine to Miller. Researching Celtic for their next Champions League game, he watched them against the Steelmen at the weekend.

And he told The Joy of Football Podcast: “Many listening and watching might not have heard of Lennon Miller. To be honest, I hadn’t heard of Lennon Miller until recently.

“I’m doing some preparation on Celtic for a Champions League assignment in a few days time. They were playing Motherwell and this young man caught my eye.

“He’s 18, he made his debut for Motherwell when he was 16 and six days in a Scottish League Cup tie a couple of years back.

“He’s already played 50 games, scored six goals and he’ll score a few more because he’s now playing further forward.

“At 0-0, from 18-25 yards he hit the post and then hit the bar with shots that had Kasper Schmeichel well beaten. A millimetre either way and the goals would be replayed again and again.

“He takes free-kicks and corners. He is also tall enough at 6ft to be a threat from other people’s set pieces as well.

“I really like the look of him and listening to the Sky commentator Gary Weaver extolling his virtues, he said this could be the next cab off the rank from Scottish football.

“He’s still got a but to do but at 18 he’s played a lot of football. I like the look of him and I’ll keep a look out for him, and I would suggest you do the same.”

Miller’s Motherwell form and stats

Young players often have a breakout season before falling a way a little bit. Not Miller.

The young man goes from strength to strength and has been on fire this season with two goals and three assists in the Premiership, and another two strikes in the League Cup.

He is fourth equal in the league for big chances created with four and his 19 chances created his him sixth equal.

And those three assists has him third in those charts, too.

Remember the name – Lennon Miller.
