Scotland international Kenny McLean once more proved how important he is to Norwich as he helped the Championship leaders pick up a 3-1 win over Birmingham City on Tuesday night.
The victory increases Norwich’s lead at the top of the Championship to 10 points. The 29-year-old played a part in helping Norwich take the lead in the game.
Third assist of the season
His pass found Teemu Pukki who fired the ball into the back of the net. It was McLean’s third assist of the season, and his first since the start of January against Barnsley.
Even though Norwich were pegged back to 1-1, they eventually ran out 3-1 winners and are strong favourites to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
McLean has played a big part in Norwich’s success this season. He might not get that many goals or assists, but he is always a consistent performer in the middle of the park.
Pleasing for Scotland boss
His good form will be pleasing to Scotland manager Steve Clarke. McLean will be a key man for Scotland when it comes to next month’s World Cup qualifiers and Euro 2020 in the summer.
The more Scotland players that are in good form the better are Scotland’s prospects for doing well in the upcoming games.
McLean and Norwich are next in action on Saturday when they take on Wycombe. You have to think that the29-year-old McLean will be one of the first names on Daniel Farke’s team sheet until promotion is clinched. Who knows, perhaps after that McLean can get a break before the start of the European Championships? Only time will tell.
