Ayr United made it three wins on the bounce with a well-earned victory over Inverness at Somerset Park- and the club’s board are eager to keep Mark Kerr’s squad together.
A Stephen Kelly goal was enough for the Honest Men as their backline held firm to secure a third consecutive clean sheet and a valuable three points.

The victory now leaves Ayr just a single point behind Inverness in second and player-manager Kerr is very happy as his side are starting to find a real positive groove.
He says that his Ayr outfit are beginning to get ‘comfortable’, whilst also responding to questioning over the future of Alan Forrest. The winger has been linked with teams such as Livingston in recent weeks.
“It’s good, it’s positive, the boys are happy,” said Kerr. “They’re more excited about the three clean sheets than the win, but obviously delighted that we’re winning.

“I said to my staff on the side that I probably feel more comfortable on the park because we know what we’re doing. We kept it tight in the first ten minutes but from then on, I thought we kicked on and had chances.
“Good performances again, it was good to get Moff (Michael Moffat) back flying, he played on the left today and I thought he was brilliant.”
“It doesn’t concern us (transfer speculation over Forrest). Teams are going to come and try and take our boys. All I know is our board are offering more than they ever have for players that are out of contract because they want to keep them here and they want to keep the fans happy.

“They want to keep this group together.”
