Dundee United prospect Kerr Smith will stay at Tannadice this season as the likes of Manchester United continue to monitor him (ET).
All 20 of England’s Premier League clubs are said to have registered some sort of interest in Smith, arguably making him the most sought-after Scottish player. The teenage Tayside centre-back had a training stint with Manchester United last year.
The cinch Premiership club are thought to have a clause in Smith’s contract that would allow him to move club for £500,000 – if the teenager wants to. But Smith has decided that playing first-team football regularly at Dundee United next season will be of more benefit to his career long-term.
It means Manchester United will need to wait longer before potentially securing his services, while Leicester City are another particularly interested in Smith. The 16-year-old made five competitive appearances last season and is targeting double figures at Tannadice this term under new head coach Thomas Courts.
