Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke has admitted that he feels he still has unfinished business in English football as he considers his future at Rugby Park – and that will surely leave Killie fans worried about the future.
Clarke has done a remarkable job at Rugby Park this season guiding the Ayrshire side to third in the Scottish Premiership and within touching distance of European football next season.
The former Chelsea and Liverpool coach admits though that he isn’t a Rugby Park for life and will leave sooner or later.
“I feel unfulfilled in England. I think I’m a decent manager and a very good coach,” Clarke told The Telegraph.
“I’ve still got a lot to offer some club who will maybe take a chance on me. I’ve been very open with Kilmarnock fans since the day I came in. This isn’t a lifetime project.
“I came in to stabilise the club and push them forward but I’ve said all along that at some stage I want to go back to England.
“At some stage, I will leave, and in the summer I’ll make a decision on my future, but I certainly won’t rule out staying here.”
Clarke is under contract at Rugby Park until 2020 and was named Manager of the Year last season after making a brilliant start to life with Killie.
Although results haven’t gone quite their way since the turn of the year, Clarke’s side still looks a good bet to finish third and pip Aberdeen to a Europa League spot.
A move to England might be tempting for Clarke but he might just find that the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere.
