Kilmarnock manager Alex Dyer doesn’t think his side were worthy of a win against Rangers – but they perhaps merited a draw.
Rangers have struggled in recent times on their travels to Rugby Park but Steven Gerrard’s men prevailed. A James Tavernier penalty early on settled things in a close encounter between the two.

Early on it looked as if Rangers could run away with proceedings in Ayrshire but Kilmarnock fought valiantly. They had a couple of opportunities of their own but couldn’t stop Rangers extending their lead at the Premiership summit.
Whilst the second 45 minutes was enjoyable, Dyer says his men showed the Gers ‘too much respect’ in the first half: “The first half wasn’t great. We were a lot better in the second half.
“It would have been nice to get something out of the game. I don’t think we did enough to win the game, but maybe we did enough to get a point. Obviously, though, you are coming up against a good side who are on a good run.

“First half, we weren’t at the races. Especially the first 30 minutes. We got a bit more into it after that and ironed a few things out at half-time. The players always give 100%. They are a good bunch in there.
“If we keep doing that and keep working hard for each other then we’ll be alright. I think we showed them a bit too much respect at the start. But if you go hung-ho against them you will get picked off.
“It’s important to try and find a balance and I think we did that in the second half. I enjoyed it more and the players did too, because they had more of the ball and passed it better.”
