Manager Alex Dyer can’t believe Kilmarnock are being burdened with the blame of a Covid-19 outbreak at Rugby Park.
The Ayrshire side have been hit with a disciplinary charge by the SPFL after their Premiership clash with Motherwell was postponed and their League Cup opener against Falkirk was forfeited.

This was down to a Covid-19 situation which had the entire first-team isolated for two weeks. They have since played two Premiership matches, a 3-1 win over Livingston and a 1-0 defeat at home to Hibs on Saturday.
But Kilmarnock face an anxious wait to see if they are found guilty, which could lead to the Motherwell game being forfeited. Dyer is adamant his team are innocent and doesn’t think it’s right that they should shoulder blame.
“If the SPFL are going to start blaming or having inquiries every time someone goes down with the virus they’re going to have a lot of work to do,” said Dyer.

“I believe it won’t be the last time this happens. We’ve come down with it, St Mirren too and there will be other clubs. I hope there aren’t but there is a chance that it will happen.
“We’ve followed the protocols since we came back on June 15. We’re coming to the end of October and we’ve had one outbreak.
“We’ve done our job, the club has worked hard to do the right things and now we’re going to have an inquiry. They want to put the blame on somebody and it’s not right.”

A Kevin Nisbet penalty was enough to see Killie defeated 1-0 at the weekend against Hibs. Dyer has provided an update on Clevid Dikamona, who was stretchered off with oxygen.
“We have to dust ourselves down and go again,” said Dyer of the defeat. “It’s a difficult one to swallow but we have some good games coming up so we have to focus on that.
“Clevid’s injury looks very serious at the moment. We’ve had no updates and we’re waiting to hear from the hospital.”
