Luton Town manager Mick Harford has insisted there is “nothing” in reports linking his side with a summer swoop for Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie.
According to the Express, the League One leaders want to bring the Scotland international south of the border when his contract ends to join brother Andrew at Kenilworth Road.
Harford admits his side always have an interest in “good players” but insisted the reports were wide of the mark.
“Graeme Shinnie is I believe is on a lot of club’s radars and he’s just someone that’s been alerted to us,” Harford told Luton Today.
“There’s nothing in it at the moment, but we always have an interest in good players.
“I know him very well, I’ve watched him numerous times, he’s a holding midfield player, can cover full back and he obviously has a big connection here with his brother.”
Shinnie joined the Dons in 2015 from Inverness Caley Thistle and succeeded Ryan Jack as captain at Pittodrie.
The versatile ace could stay in the Granite City and continue to build on the past four years under Derek McInnes – although at 27 it would likely be his last chance of a good contract elsewhere.
With Luton top of League One, the chance to play in the Championship could appeal although, after being in the Conference just a few years ago, it will likely be a struggle to stay in the division.
