Leeds United are one of three English Premier League clubs who are still pursuing the signing of Dundee United defender Kerr Smith (DR).
It was reported earlier this summer that every team in England’s top-flight had either scouted or at least been made aware of ‘the Arabs’ defender. Smith made his debut for United last season at the age 0f 16, attracting Leeds United interest.
Not 17 until December, Smith has already featured seven times for Dundee United, twice this season under new head coach Thomas Courts. Speculation surrounding the centre-back has lessened over the last six weeks but new reports suggest Leeds United ‘remain keen.’
The Elland Road side have intensified their scouting regimes in Scottish football in recent times. Stuart McKinstry left Motherwell for Leeds United a couple of seasons ago while Leo Hjelde is being tracked after a loan spell at Ross County.
Crystal Palace and Southampton are the others keeping tabs on Smith’s situation. Smith is said to be available for around £500k, which is a bargain price, given the amount of interest in him.
