Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson has opened up on the controversial incident involving Rangers’ Allan McGregor.
McGregor was banned for two games after catching Ferguson with a kick in the Ibrox side’s recent 4-2 win at Pittodrie.
Ferguson has revealed that he was upset with the challenge at first. But these things can happen in football.
“After the tackle happened I was obviously a bit angry at him but that’s football” he told the Press and Journal.
“I’ve put in bad tackles but you move on from it.”
Ferguson’s attitude is the correct one to have, especially when you consider that the Dons and Rangers are set to meet again soon. The teams face-off at Pittodrie in the Scottish Cup a week on Sunday.
Both players will no doubt play a big part in determining which side gets though to the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden.
The other big story involving Ferguson is that he recently committed his future to Aberdeen by signing a new deal which keeps him at the club until 2024.
He looks set to be an Aberdeen mainstay for years to come. How important he is to the team is shown by the length of his new deal.
Ferguson has already knocked Rangers out of one cup this season. Aberdeen fans will be hoping he celebrates his new deal by knocking them out of another.
