Aberdeen star Lewis Ferguson has called on the Dons to bounce back from the midweek defeat to Livingston when they travel to Easter Road on Saturday to take on Hibernian.
Aberdeen go into the game in fourth place in the Premiership. Two points behind third placed Hibernian but with a game in hand.
Ferguson knows how important the game is in the battle for third place in the league. Indeed, he has called the game a ‘must win’ match.
“A must win for me”
“Saturday was always going to be a big game, but it’s even bigger now. It’s a must win for me, we’ve got to go and turn Hibs over” he said (official Aberdeen website).
“It’s a battle between us now, they’re the team we have to beat. So we have to dust ourselves down and get ready to go again. We need to focus on ourselves because we’ve been our own biggest enemies this season” Ferguson continued.
Battle for third place in league
Ferguson has called on his teammates to respond to the importance of the game by turning in a performance that would see the Dons pick up the three points. A win for Aberdeen would also see them control the battle for third place in the league as well.
“It’s a massive test of character for us. When the chips are down, everybody has to stand up and be counted. It’s easy when everybody is playing well, and you’re winning games.
“But it’s when things aren’t going your way that it really matters, that’s when the real players have to stand up and perform for the manager, for the club and for the fans.”
