Aberdeen star Lewis Ferguson has admitted that the team must solve a problem which has caused the team issues in recent weeks, that is the lack of goals that the Dons have scored. Especially when dominating games.
Two of Aberdeen’s last three games have ended in goalless draws. That is something that Ferguson thinks needs to be addressed quickly before it does some real damage to Aberdeen’s prospects for this season.
“2021 only promises a lot if we are able to hit the back of the net when we are on top” he said.
“Guilty of that”
“We have been guilty of that. I still think we have had a good first half of the season. But we have more in the tank and more to come. It is down to us, and we need to show that. If we do we will push as far as we can go and hopefully finish the season strong” Ferguson concluded.
A good time for Aberdeen to get on the goal hunt again would be when the take on Rangers at Pittodrie on Sunday. It won’t be an easy task for Derek McInnes’ side. The Ibrox club have conceded only five goals in 22 league games so far this season.
Nine goals for player this season
However, on his day Ferguson is more than capable of finding the back of the net. He has scored nine goals in 20 games for Aberdeen so far this season. It would be a real bonus for the Dons if he could reach double figures for the season against Rangers.
No doubt Derek McInnes is working hard on how to get Aberdeen back on the goal trail. Perhaps that will pay off against the Premiership leaders.
