Nicky Devlin knows that Livingston will be up against it when they face Celtic, but he reckons his side can challenge the Parkhead side.

Livi take on Celtic at noon today, looking to bounce back following a sticky run of results. After avoiding defeat for the first nine games of the season, they’ve since been beaten four times in a row.

Their latest challenge is a daunting one that’ll make that run hard to stop, but Devlin believes that his side have enough to challenge Celtic.

He told the Sunday Mail: “Celtic are one of the only teams that I’ve never played against so I can’t wait.

“We are giving away cheap goals. It makes it so much tougher. We need to improve because Celtic are a team that could run over the top of you.

“If we get back to our form at the start of the season and match the performance we put in against Rangers for 75 minutes at Ibrox, then we’ll give Celtic a real game.”

Livingston will need to be at their very best against Celtic

Livingston’s form has dipped dramatically over the past four games. In the games against Aberdeen and Rangers though, they showed they can make life difficult for anyone in West Lothian.

Hard to break down and quite quick on the counter, Livi have given Rangers a match home and away in recent weeks with this style of play. You would think that Gary Holt would like to implement a similar plan today.

Any success they have though will have to come without the aid of Lyndon Dykes. The influential striker isn’t likely to make the match according to Holt (Evening Express).

Devlin and his teammates will be up against it this afternoon, but Livi know the feeling of being big underdogs all too well.
