Livingston manager David Martindale has hailed the return of Scott Pittman from injury – comparing the midfielder to Frank Lampard in his level of performance.
Pittman scored in the weekend win over Livingston as he made a rare appearances, having only featured once since August and Martindale couldn’t have been happier to see the 29-year-old back in action.
After his goal-scoring return, the Livi boss compared Pittman with Frank Lampard and thinks it is no surprise his return coincided with a fantastic performance from his side in the 3-0 win at McDiarmid Park.
“It was massive having someone like Scott Pittman available on Saturday, from me as a coaching point of view,” Martindale said.
“He goes out there and does it. He knows everything that is expected of him and he delivers it on the park.
“It’s like Jose Mourinho’s quotes on Frank Lampard when he said that if Lampard had a good game he was the best player, but if he didn’t play at his best he was the third or fourth best player.
“That’s like Scott Pittman for me. He’s similar to that and is kind of our Frank Lampard in that sense.
“When he has a good game, he’s fantastic, but when he just has a normal game, he’s still one of the better players.”
