Anderlecht have been crowned champions of Belgium 34 times- but they weren’t able to topple Livingston over in Spain.

Gary Holt’s men have been out in La Manga this week on a warm weather training camp. They recruited two new players in Ciaron Brown and Ryan Schofield whilst overseas.

They’ve had the time to take in two friendlies too. The first ended in a 3-1 defeat to Jong Ajax but their second against Belgian side Anderlecht ended in a credible 1-1 draw for the Lions.

The Belgians fielded a team mixed with first-team players and those in need of minutes, with the likes of former Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe featuring. It was Livingston who got scoring underway.

Lyndon Dykes managed to net just after 50 minutes after some good pressing work allowed him to go through on goal. Anderlecht hit back four minutes later though as Luka Azdic got the Belgians on level terms.

It stayed as a draw and Livingston can be pleased with that. It’s a good result against strong opposition, which can only give them a boost heading into the second half of the season.

They’ll return to Scottish shores shortly to prepare for a return to competitive action. They’ll face Raith Rovers in Scottish Cup action next Saturday.
