Livingston is in an excellent run of form at the moment under interim head coach David Martindale. The team have won four games out of four since he took over from Gary Holt, most recently defeating Ross County 2-0 to reach the semi-finals of the Betfred Cup.
One player who scored in that game deserves credit for how he was performed this season – Alan Forrest. The midfielder signed a pre-contract agreement with Livingston last season, after a successful seven-year spell at Ayr United.
Spent entire career in lower leagues
It was going to be interesting to see how the player adapted to life in the Premiership after spending his entire career in the lower leagues.

So far, it has to be said that Forrest has performed very well. His goal against Ross County was his 10th of the season in 23 games, a more than decent return.
It might be pointed out that seven of those goals have come in the Betfred Cup. However, that is not worthy of any criticism. Those goals have taken Livingston to a semi-final, and two games away from a first trophy since 2004.
League goals have also been important
Forrest’s league goals have also been important, one being the winner in a 2-1 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice.

It has to be said that Forrest’s good form seems to have gone under the radar. He deserves more recognition. In the past, Forrest’s big brother James has been in the headlines for what he has achieved with Celtic and Scotland. Now it looks to be the younger Forrest’s time to shine. Forrest has taken to Premiership life well. He will be a key man for Livingston for the rest of the season.
