This transfer story has an end for now. Motherwell have ended the David Turnbull transfer saga, confirming the midfielder will be staying Fir Park.
It has rumbled on since Motherwell let the world know they had agreed to sell Turnbull to Celtic. It’s all snowballed from there really, but the youngster won’t be going anywhere.

Sadly it doesn’t look to have been his choice. His medical has flagged up a knee problem which he’ll need to have surgery for. The 19-year-old had agreed personal terms at Parkhead, but the two clubs involved couldn’t renegotiate terms.
Regardless of the circumstances, some Well fans are delighted with the news.

The Turnbull saga finishing means Motherwell can move on
This has plagued Motherwell for the past couple of weeks. It must have been getting extremely difficult for the club as a whole to get on with anything when this speculation was lurking about.

Now they can move on, but with their transfer plans altered. Sadly because of Turnbull’s injury, they aren’t getting a potentially historic sum of money in the mail.
That may never arrive, even if Turnbull does get fit, due to this knee injury. Who knows how it’ll affect him and hopefully he bounces back from this.
Targets will have been lined up and plans put in place to best use this money. Those plans will now need to be ripped up, with the Fir Park club now back in the reality of working on a shoestring budget.

Fans will be delighted though that they are very likely to see Turnbull in claret and amber again though. Here’s hoping he can rise to the challenge this injury brings him.
