Luca Connell says the League Two title win with Queen’s Park is ‘what you play football for’ after the Celtic loanee scored the winning goal on trophy day.
The midfielder has shone since arriving from Celtic on loan and he inspired Queen’s Park to victory on Thursday as they beat Edinburgh City 2-0. His goal was enough to secure the win after another brilliant performance, Connell then lifting the League Two trophy as the Spiders prepare for League One.
Celtic will take Connell back in the summer but the Irish youth international said of the League Two title win (QP): “Yeah it’s brilliant. It’s what you play football for. At any level you are playing to win so it’s nice to finish the season off with some silverware. The lads have all been great since I have come in and it’s a big, big well done to them.
“What they have done early on – getting us a good lead – it’s very pleasing. I have to thank the lads. As soon as I arrived they welcomed me in and I think it helps when you come in and play straight away. I thank the gaffer for that. I made plans and targets for myself and I wanted a few goals so it was good to get one.”
