Interest in the Killie kid has rumbled on since the summer, with City reportedly the first club to hold talks with Smith way back in August.
Amidst interest from abroad and the UK, it looks as if Kilmarnock will lose the teenager to the English powerhouse. They’ve fended off competition from the likes of Liverpool and Rangers seemingly to tie him down.
Manchester City deal all but done
The deal which will take Smith to Manchester is all but done, bringing an end to months of speculation. It is thought though that Smith will stay in Ayrshire until this season finishes.
Kilmarnock will stand to make £200k from this deal in compensation. Given the size of clubs being linked with the 16-year-old, Killie might be disappointed with this figure.
A natural winger, Smith hasn’t made his breakthrough into the Kilmarnock first-team as of yet. He has been a shining light in the Rugby Park youth setup though and has caught the eye on Scotland U16s duty.
It looks as if Killie stand to lose their talented winger to Pep Guardiola’s side.
