There’s no need to worry about a potentially long-term Scott McTominay injury as the Scotland star made his quick return for Manchester United yesterday.
Last weekend, the battler was inspiring, scoring two and assisting another as Manchester United thrashed Leeds United 6-2. But there was concern for the Scotsman at full-time.

He hobbled off late in the game with a groin injury, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team with 10 men to finish with. The Norwegian was clearly concerned post-match following this.
“Scott, it seemed like a groin issue,” said Solskjaer. “I don’t know. Hopefully, it won’t be too long as he’s not had any muscle injuries before. But I don’t know how quickly he will recover.”
McTominay then missed the crucial midweek League Cup quarter-final with Everton as his injury was assessed but fears have been calmed. He returned to the Manchester United starting XI on Boxing Day.

He played the full 90 minutes but it wasn’t to be a win this weekend, drawing 2-2 with Leicester City away from home. But it’s a boost for McTominay after a repeat of 2019 was avoided.
In the festive period last season, the Scotland international picked up an ankle injury that ruled him out for months, only playing a bit-part role throughout the rest of the United campaign.
Steve Clarke will be glad there isn’t a similar scenario this time round, Euro 2020 getting closer by the day, McTominay likely to play a key role in Clarke’s Scotland plans.
