Hibernian’s surge to third place in the Premiership continued with the recent 2-0 win over Aberdeen. In a game which could be a defining match in the battle for third, Jack Ross’ side were comfortable winners, as they moved five points clear of their nearest challengers for third.

One notable aspect of the game was the performance of Martin Boyle. The winger scored both of Hibernian’s goals in the game, which continued his good run of form. He has scored four goals in his last three games.

That is a boost for Hibernian, as prior to his recent run of goals the 27-year-old hadn’t found the back of the net since December.

Close to double figures in goals and assists

Boyle now has nine goals and nine assists this season, and he is very close to reaching double figures in both, which would be a terrific achievement.

Boyle’s return to form has come at just the right time for Hibernian. Prior to his return to the goal trail, Hibernian were in a bit of a ropey run of form, with only two wins in eight games.

In charge of third place battle

However, Boyle’s goals in the last three games have helped Hibernian pick up nine points, and take charge of the battle for third place.

Boyle and Hibernian will be looking to keep that run going when the Easter Road side travel to Dingwall to take on Ross County on Saturday. That won’t be an easy game, as County are battling to stay in the Premiership.

However, if Boyle can maintain his run of form, then Hibernian should be confident that they can pick up their fourth win in a row.
