Motherwell secured the return of fan favourite Ross McCormack this month – and the well-travelled striker can fire the Steelmen into the top six of the Scottish Premiership.
McCormack returned to ‘Well after a stint on loan in Australia.
The striker signed a six-month loan deal at Fir Park and should bring greater balance to Stephen Robinson’s forward line.
Rather than the typical targetman ‘Well have used this season, McCormack offers a much more technical outlet.
With Ryan Bowman’s departure and a lack of goals elsewhere, McCormack’s return will be a welcome boost.
Sitting 13 points off sixth in the table, the Steelmen need a big improvement in form and will be hoping the former Rangers ace can be the catalyst.
McCormack spent two years at Fir Park, with a fabulous second season seeing him score 11 times.
Moves to Cardiff, Fulham, Leeds and Aston Villa followed but McCormack never really settled at any of them
Despite that, the striker managed to hit the net 133 times during his time in English football.
A bust-up with then-Villa boss Steve Bruce saw him frozen out of the first-team.
Since being axed at Villa, the striker has enjoyed loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Australian sides Melbourne City and Central Coast Mariners.
The Claret and Amber return to action after the winter break on January 19th.
