The long running feud between Michael Stewart and Hearts boss Craig Levein has continued this weekend.

Ahead of the Hibs v Hearts clash, Stewart has taken another dig at under-fire Levein, saying he controls ‘all the power’ at Tynecastle.

Former Hearts midfielder Stewart has been a long-term critic of Levein and the Jambos boss has taken notice on a couple of occasions. In one press conference Levein said, ‘£1 a week and you were still my worst signing’ with regards to Stewart (Daily Record).

Writing in his Scottish Sun column, Stewarts believes his former boss is holding the club back and questions who runs things in Gorgie.

He said: “It’s Levein, you see, who wields all the power at Tynecastle, not owner Ann Budge. As first-team manager and director of football, he’s the man who calls all the shots in Gorgie.

“And that’s why, even though he has messed up in every respect, he has the safest job in world football. In any other circumstances at any other club, Levein would be out of a job already. But not these.

“It’s Levein who tells the Jambos board what to do, not the other way around. When he talks football, Budge and her directors must think he’s some kind of nuclear physicist. But this is not rocket science. Hearts aren’t looking to the future — they have a dinosaur in charge.”

Stewart makes some bold claims about Hearts and Levein

To say Stewart is being blunt would be an understatement. The ex-Jambo has made some good points with regards to Levein both here and in the past, but you begin to wonder whether his dislike for the Tynecastle boss affects that.

He has made some pretty big statements here. Saying that Levein has all the power in Gorgie, especially after Ann Budge’s recent statement, is a massive claim to make.

One of Budge’s criticisms of the media was the reporting of opinion that was put across as fact. With some of the things Stewart has said about the club, these sort of comments must fall into that category.

There is some validity in what he is saying though. Many people wonder about how safe Levein’s job is. Plenty of Jambos bosses in the past have been sacked for far less.

Stewart has made his opinions known about Levein. You don’t need to be a ‘nuclear physicist’ to figure out what they are.
